Agustín Cosme Damián —that’s the name my parents gave me, and from them I inherited the surnames of two families belonging to the highest aristocracy of New Spain: Iturbide and Aramburu, one peninsular and the other criollo.
Agustín de Iturbide is perhaps one of the most misunderstood figures in our history. Praised as a liberator and emperor; criticized as a traitor and tyrant.
